The Msharti Story
Why Msharti calls itself an Enterprise AI Access Platform, what governed access means, and why it's built for Africa first.
Category
Enterprise AI Access Platform.
Mission
Give AI secure access to African business.
What Msharti Is
Msharti is the enterprise platform that gives AI secure, governed access to the systems and data that run African business: M-Pesa, KRA, SACCOs, banks, and the enterprise systems that were never built with this continent in mind.
How It Works
Built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), Msharti provides enterprise connectivity, governance, security, and a growing catalog of Africa-first connectors through one unified control plane, hosted on the continent, priced in shillings.
That structure is deliberate. It starts with the business outcome, explains the product second, and introduces the technology last, because that’s the pattern that survives contact with a buyer: customers remember the problem you solved. The protocol is the how, not the headline.
The Problem That Started It
Microsoft poured Copilot into East Africa. The licences got bought. The seats got assigned. And then, mostly, silence.
Only 35.8% of Microsoft 365 Copilot licences in Kenya are actively used. The rest sit idle, not because the model is bad, but because Copilot can’t see the data that runs the business. It can write a beautiful email. It cannot tell a CFO how much came in via M-Pesa this week, or which suppliers still owe a valid KRA Tax Compliance Certificate.
Every month, somewhere in Nairobi, a finance team spends three days doing what should take minutes: pulling an M-Pesa statement, cross-referencing it line by line against Sage invoices, then emailing KRA, or logging into iTax manually, to check each supplier’s compliance status one at a time.
That gap between a world-class AI model and the systems that make an African business run is the reason Msharti exists.
What Msharti Does
Msharti gives enterprise AI secure access to the systems Kenyan and African businesses actually use:
- Mobile money: M-Pesa Daraja for collections, disbursements, and reconciliation
- Tax and compliance: KRA GavaConnect for PIN verification, TCC status, and customs and excise checks
- Core business systems: Sage, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MSSQL, internal APIs
- Microsoft 365: Outlook, Dynamics 365, SharePoint, Teams
- CRM and support: Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, Zoho CRM
- Collaboration and comms: WhatsApp Business, Notion, Jira, GitHub, Gmail
- Marketing and analytics: Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Meta Ads
So AI can retrieve information, answer questions, and take approved action using an organization’s own data, not a generic model’s best guess.
Built for Enterprise AI
Enterprise AI is only as valuable as the data and systems it can securely access. Msharti provides the enterprise platform that gives AI assistants and AI agents governed access to your organization’s applications, databases, APIs, and business systems, so every answer and every action is based on trusted business information. Most integration tools simply connect systems together. Msharti is built to govern how AI interacts with your business.
Secure access to business systems Connect Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and AI agents to the systems that power your business through one governed platform.
The right tool, every time Msharti routes every AI request to the appropriate connector, application, or API, ensuring AI always uses the correct business system for the task.
Access controlled by your business Every AI assistant and every user only accesses the systems, tools, and data they are authorized to use, based on your organization’s roles, permissions, and security policies.
Enterprise governance by design Authentication, credential management, audit logging, tenant isolation, and policy enforcement are built into every connection, not added later.
One platform for every AI Connect once and securely enable Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and future AI platforms without rebuilding integrations for each one.
Built for the systems your business relies on From enterprise applications and databases to APIs and regional services such as M-Pesa, KRA, and Pesalink, Msharti connects AI to the information your organization depends on every day.
Who We Serve
Today, Msharti is built for and used by:
- Banking & Financial Services: core reconciliation, compliance checks, regulatory reporting
- SACCOs & Microfinance: member contribution tracking, loan disbursement monitoring, compliance
- Manufacturing & Logistics: supplier compliance, Paybill reconciliation, KRA filing status
- Retail & FMCG: campaign performance, customer engagement via WhatsApp, funnel reporting
- Professional Services & Technology: engineering triage, project and ticket management, internal knowledge search
Where the roadmap is headed: Insurance, Government & Public Sector, Healthcare, and Telecom are sectors we’re building toward, not sectors we serve today. We’d rather tell you that plainly than let a logo wall imply otherwise.
Why Organizations Choose Msharti
Anyone can connect AI to an API. Enterprise AI requires knowing:
- which tool should be used,
- who is allowed to use it,
- what data can be accessed,
- when an action is permitted,
- how every interaction is authenticated and audited.
Msharti makes those decisions automatically, according to your organization’s security policies and governance rules. That’s what moves Msharti beyond being a connector platform: we’re not just exposing APIs, we’re enforcing enterprise policy at the exact point where AI interacts with your business systems.
We ensure every AI assistant reaches the right system, using the right credentials, with the right permissions, under the right governance.
The Msharti Vision
We believe AI will become the primary interface to enterprise software.
Employees won’t navigate dozens of applications to find information. They’ll simply ask AI.
For that future to work, AI must be able to securely understand, retrieve, and act on business information. And for African enterprise, that AI has to understand M-Pesa, KRA, and SACCO governance as fluently as it understands Salesforce.
Msharti is building the infrastructure that makes that possible, built in Nairobi, for the businesses that were never the starting point for anyone else’s roadmap.
